Early today, the X account of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee was hacked, perhaps endangering the party’s digital assets. A report has been made, imploring the authorities to apprehend the hacker as soon as possible.
Ratul Kalita, the chairman of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s social media and IT department, stated that the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (Assam Congress) was hacked early in the morning.
Kalita reports that the breach happened at 4 a.m. today, and the party’s final recorded post, dated 07/05/2024, was made at 11 p.m. the night before. The party used the compromised X (formerly Twitter) account as a vital channel for public information dissemination, reaching hundreds of thousands of people around the state.
Kalita expressed deep worry over the occurrence and underlined the importance of the information contained in the compromised X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasising its crucial role in the party’s communication plan. The security of the party’s digital assets is at risk due to the breach, which also calls into question the veracity of the data shared on the site.
Ratul Kalita asked the authorities to act quickly and decisively to capture the person responsible for the cyber intrusion in response to the breach. The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s Chairman of the Social Media & IT Department emphasised the need for justice and responsibility while highlighting the hacking’s malevolent aim.
Ratul Kalita formally informed the authorities at the Bhangagarh Police Station in Assam about the occurrence in writing. Photostat copies of the hacked posts have been supplied by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee as proof to support the probe.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee advises the public and its supporters to be cautious and watchful for any harmful activity or false information that may arise from the compromised Twitter account in light of the breach.
